Chinese beauty trends, there are some new and extremely crazy ones coming into trend. From was nose jobs to V-shaped face, we are going to be looking deeper into these trends. Why have these trends come about and what celebrities have taken part. There is nothing crazier than these 6 Chinese beauty trends. Maybe you will want to try some of these trends yourself, or maybe you are just here to see what they are all about.
1. Wax Nose Jobs:
Wax nose jobs are one of the latest trends occurring right now. This trend is where people are giving themselves nose jobs by using wax. It is extremely popular in China as they are wanting to give themselves a more profound nose.
All you need to do is take a small amount of wax and roll these into balls or slim snakes. You then place them onto your nose and mould them into the shape you want them. Once you have finished shaping the wax you will need to gently smooth the edges, most people are using Vaseline to do this. Then to complete the look use your normal makeup to blend it in. You will need to press over the wax lightly with concealer and powder to ensure that the wax stays in place and does not mess up your look.
This trend is coming a light instead of liquid nose jobs. Liquid nose jobs are permanent and need to be done by professionals. Wax nose jobs can be done by yourself and you can remove them whenever you want, and change your style whenever you wish. The trend also consists of people going to social media platforms, mainly Instagram, and filming themselves taking the wax off. This is crazy to watch as they take knives and other sharp objects to their faces.
One example of someone who has taken part in this craze is @promisetamang on Instagram. Her video has a whopping 1.1 million views so it is no wonder this has become such a massive trend. She has posted a video of herself removing her wax nose revealing her true identity.
In the video, people can see the before and after and that they can do to themselves if they partake in this challenge. She is seen removing the tape from under her chin, destroying her wax nose, removing contact lenses and removing all of her makeup. Her video truly shows what people can do with makeup and shows us why this has become such a trend.
2. Pale Skin
Another crazy beauty trend is making yourself have paler skin. While most people want darker, more tanned skin, Chinese people are wanting to make their skin paler. According to Yonden Lhatoo, “an ancient genetic link to Chinese people’s obsession with porcelain-pale skin, but it’s still cultural and social baggage that should be dropped.”
China is the world’s biggest market for skin-whitening products in the Asia-Pacific region. Chinese people use many different skin whitening products which helps them to achieve the pales skin they desire. Previously in China, having pale skin meant you were more wealthy and did not work in the fields. It may represent white, rich and beautiful.
People are using many skin whitening lotions, creams, face masks and foundations, to hopefully help them achieve their look. Roughly 40% of Chinese women are partaking in daily activities to keep their skin looking pale. Shockingly some of these products being used still contain Mercury which can cause serious health issues. These products have been banned in the US so why Chinese women are still using them is unknown.
3. Straight Brows
Straight brows, you are probably wondering what this exactly is and why it is a craze. Straight brows, also known as boy brows’ is where women are shaping their eyebrows to make them straight and look like boys eyebrows. More or less, this beauty trend is inspired by South Korea makeup trend.
One of the good things about this crazy trend is that it is much easier to pull off than some of the other eyebrow trends like feathered or arches. These eyebrows are a more natural look which also helps it to be easy to pull off. You do not need a full face of makeup for this look to work. It can help anyone’s tired eyes look more awake and full.
This is one of the best ones to follow if you want fuller-looking eyebrows that look well done without all of the fuss. With them being easy to complete, you will have the best looking brows following this trend in no time.
One of the main celebrities which is an example of the straight brow look is Kendall Jenner. She rocks this look, whereas the other Kardashians favor the arch more defined brows. Kendall Jenner posts this look over her Instagram, with her massive following, more people are bound to want to try this crazy beauty trend.
4. Big Eyes
There are two ways that people are following this beauty trend! They are either wearing contact lenses or having double eyelid surgery! It has become popular in China as they are obsessed with East European makeup trends, so to complete the look they need bigger eyes through either of these methods.
Wearing contact lenses you would believe to be the safe option but when looking deeper into this you discover that this is not the case. People in China are allowed to wear these different colored, patterned and style contact lenses to help widen their eyes. However, they are banned in the US due to the effects they may have on eyes. People have been buying wrong perception contact lenses which can result in you going fully blind! However, this does not stop the people in China from wearing them and trying to make themselves look like they have as big eyes as possible.
The second way which people are trying to get bigger eyes is through double eyelid surgery. This is believed to make the eyes look a lot bigger. Besides opting for surgery, some people are also using eyelid tape. The tape being used is sticky on both sides which allows you to create the double eyelid look without the lasting effect.
5. V-Shaped Face
Another beauty craze which has overtaken the women of China is having a V-shaped face. They are using special tape, known as V-shaped tape to make their faces look smaller than what they are. This is also being used to define their jawlines.
The process for this is taking some of the tapes and sticking it under your chin so it holds back some of your excess skin. This helps to define your jawline and make your face look smaller. They will then use their concealer and foundation the blend in the tape so it can no longer be seen. The overall result of using this tape is having a more defined jawline and a thinner face.
6. Slimming Body Trend
There are many different ways which Chinese women are attempting to show off their thin bodies. To them, thin bodies show their feminism, and how delicate they truly are. One of the ways which they are showing off how thin they are in the belly button challenge. This challenge involves the girl being able to put one of her arms around her back and cover her belly button. The challenge displays how small the waist of the woman is as her whole arm can fit around herself.
A4-inspiration is another crazy beauty trend which has swept across China. This involves women making themselves so thin that their waist is the same size as an A4 piece of paper. For reference that is 210mm wide by 297mm high. People in China are taking part in this craze as to them it is true evidence of how fit they are. They like to show off their fitness, and in their eyes, there is no better way than to have a tiny waste.
Another way in which they are showing off their slim bodies is the Collarbone challenge. This involves the girls getting so thin you can see their collar bones. They will then place a spring or similar object into the gap created. This is done again to show that they are super thin and delicate.
Moving from A4 Waist, iPhone 6 Challenge also goes viral on the internet (Weibo). This challenge is to show how smartphones can cover the skinny legs. When the iPhone6 covers the width of your legs (knee area), your legs conform to the standard beauty ideal.
Not many people understand why all of these bizarre trends have come about in China, but to us, it is either something to be amazed by or something to laugh about. I have enjoyed laughing about these many trends and what these women have put themselves through. We are all perfect as we are, but trends come and go and there is nothing we can do to stop them.
